Empathy

As role models in the senior school it is hugely important for the children to have a sound understanding of how their actions effect their peers, opportunities and their learning environment. Being able to look beyond yourself is a skill not unlike reading and writing which must be taught and nurtured. Having opportunities to reflect on how we are feeling and reacting to one another in a school environment is key to encouraging the development of a child's empathy. In term 3 we will be looking empathy as we continue to work under the umbrella of 'Miking a difference'. Below is an article about encouraging and recognizing empathy in young people. Feel free to read and leave your thoughts, comments and ideas.
