This week is Matariki ( the beginning of the Maori new year) : Matariki is a cluster of stars which is only visible in the early morning for a short period of time. This group of stars has special significance to to Maori as it helped them to know when to plant their crops. To celebrate we made an artwork which contained symbols and designs that signified the story of Ranginui and Papatua-nuku and how Matariki came to be. First we drew a compass star outline on paper , next using pastel and colleague we filled in our design. I decided to create my artwork on the computer using key-note and using the masking and alpha key. here it is....Taylor
