DANGLE....WHAT IF

At the moment we are doing narrative writing. Today Ms Berry showed us a cool short film called Dangle.  We are mainly working on s 'orientating our audience' so at first we were focusing on how the producer set the scene with sound and visuals.  Also we wanted to look at the main character.

Firstly we watched the beginning without sound, we brainstormed all of the things we could see.  Next we listened to the beginning without seeing it.  We wrote down all of the things we could hear.

We used these two brainstorms to help us write interesting narratives which captured the audience and created a strong mental image of the setting.

After we had written our intros Ms Berry let us watch a small amount more... right up until the point when the character see a red velvet rope dangling from the sky.  She paused it and asked us all WHAT IF YOU PULLED THE ROPE AND.....
We each came up with several 'what if' scenarios.  Next we wrote our main bodies using one of our 'what if's'.

After we finished writing we all sat around and shared our writing... We all had created such different stories.  We were then allowed to watch what really happened in the film..  Ms Berry also taught us how to screen grab and image from a film to add to our writing.
This was heaps of fun.
