Narrative Writing


Learning Intention: Start a story in the middle of an event to capture your reader’s attention

Today the children had a go at capturing their readers by starting in the middle of an exciting event.  We used picture prompts to help create ideas....
 

I clung for dear life as the soil around me began to pull upwards.  My fingernails digging deeply into the soft earth….

“Drop down to half speed” The captain roared over the top of the chaos.  The sound of metal ripping rang through the control room.
“She’s not going to hold”  I called back hands clenched around my control panel.
Sparks and smoke began to rise from the button….
