Australia in crisis.

This morning we read the newspaper articles covering the latest news in Victoria. We discussed the repercussions which can occur from a seemingly thoughtless act of vandalism ( in this case arson).
The children gave their own opinion about how they were feeling after reading the article and we thought about the victims families and friends, and last of all how the rescue teams must be feeling. What was disturbing was the idea that we put so much faith in fireman, policeman and other public protectors but sometimes their is nothing that can be done. We talked about fire safety and making sensible choices, and whether we thought it was fair that the people who started the fire should be charged with murder. What are your thoughts - please comment on the blog.
Because we are focusing on writing reports the children used notes and ideas gained from the articles read to write their own news paper story about the fires.
