Literacy, ' poetry will eat itself '

During literacy yesterday we explored the meaning of the statement "poetry will eat itself". This literacy lesson was meant to get us thinking about the deeper meanings of poetry. We got into groups of four or five and wrote all our ideas down on a brainstorm. We had ideas like: "perhaps the statement means that if you overdo the adjectives in a poem it stops making sense," or, " your thoughts that you put in your poems are yours - nobody elses - so you can eat them and keep them inside of you." We then recounted our ideas to Ms Berry who wrote them all down on a joint brainstorm.
