Future in Technology

Today we were visited by a Scientist who works in Seaview creating genetically engineered bacteria and other interesting creations. He explained some of the benefits and consequences of scientific technology in relation to genetic engineering and also how insulin is created both naturally (from pigs pancreas) and genetically engineered (from yeast). we got to see his equipment and also look through a microscope at yeast and bacteria- magnified 1 thousand times! It was an exciting experience and inspired many children to pursue science at high school.
